Hours of operation: Monday & Wednesday 3-8pm, Tuesday & Thursday 10-8pm, Friday 1-5pm, Saturday 10am-2pm, closed Sunday.
In the case of inclement weather should the library close, the announcement will be posted on
our Facebook page and
on WMUR-TV.
Should Chester Academy close due to inclement weather, the library may also be closed. If our front door lights are illuminated, we are open.
2012 Holiday Closings: Monday January 2 – New Year’s;
Monday January 16 – Martin Luther King/Civil Right’s Day;
Monday February 20 – President’s Day;
Monday May 28 – Memorial Day;
Wednesday July 4 – Independence Day;
Monday September 3 – Labor Day;
Monday October 8 – Columbus Day;
Wednesday October 31 – Closing early at 5:30 due to Halloween Festivities;
Monday November 12 – Veterans’ Day;
Wednesday November 21 – Change in hours to 10 to 3;
Thursday November 22 and Friday November 23 – Thanksgiving break;
Monday December 24 and Tuesday December 25 – Christmas break;
Monday January 31 – Change in hours to 10 to 3
Library card and borrowing privileges: Free to Chester residents ages 6 and up. Proof of residency is required.
$40 annual fee
for non-residents.
Loan periods: New Books, New Audios, All Magazines - 2 weeks; Books and Audios - 3 weeks; Videos/DVD’s - 1 week; Downloadable books (audios and ebooks) - varies by title.
Renewals may be granted for items that are not reserved by another cardholder.
Inter-library loans: If we don’t have an item you need, we will attempt to borrow the item from another library.
Any cost involved (such as postage, photocopy, and other fees) will be your responsibility.
Usually no fee if item
borrowed within New Hampshire.
Late fees/fines: None. A conscience box is located on the counter for you to make a donation for late items.
Privileges may be temporarily suspended if items are a few months overdue.
Please be courteous to fellow library users and bring your items back in a timely fashion.
Lost/damaged items fee: Retail price of item plus $5.00 processing fee. New replacement of item accepted in lieu of payment.
Photocopies: 10 cents per page
Computer printing: 25 cents per page
Fax services: $1.00 per page to receive;
$1.00 per page to send in state or to 800 numbers; $2.00 per page to send out of state;
$4.00 per page to send international
Chester Public Library Tote Bags: $10.00 each. Benefits the Library’s book fund.
Internet/computer usage: You must be a Library cardholder and need to sign our Internet policy. Our computers contain iTunes, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, Mozilla Firefox, and OpenOffice.
Wi-Fi available to all visitors.

Each museum pass provides some type of discounted rate.
Passes are provided
free of charge from the Chester Public Library to Library cardholders only.
Cardholders are allowed to use
one pass per person per day. Passes may not be resold for cardholder profit.
